Battle Realms is a strategy game with a rather unique anime-inspired setting. It combines high-fantasy themes with unit summoning to provide gamers with a very different sort of RTS title. The game takes place in an environment that's inspired by Japan's feudal era, but with some vital differences.

Most importantly, all combat is between four warring factions. Players who have an interest in occult fantasy monsters can try the Lotus Clan, which is run much like a cult. Those who want to overwhelm their opposition with military might could try the Wolf and Dragon clans, which are both heavily invested in their samurai warrior schools.

Serpent Clan units, by comparison, are more for those who enjoy a sneaky and tenacious style of gameplay. That gives players an option to tailor the experience to their own preferences. If you favor a certain type of RTS unit, then you can usually base an entire build around it.

Unlike most RTS titles, however, Battle Realms is designed to be relatively adaptive. If you're playing a game against AI opponents, then you can expect them to change up what they're doing based on your fighting style. That being said, the AI in Battle Realms tends to be aggressive no matter what so you're going to have a tough time getting your base setup while trying to deal with a rush from the computer player.

That, along with the excellent soundtrack, helps to dramatically increase the replay value that this unique title has to offer. While there's only a limited number of units to train, you'll probably find yourself doing so for hours on end.
